Long Nights

Poem Commentary

People are beautiful for who they are and I hate to see them discouraged by society, bullies, or ignorance. Stay strong out there to all my people.

Long Nights

I wish I could be your conscience when the dark bites

Locked up, stronghold nights

And watch the time tic by so slow

I wish it could be so easy but its not

When your hopeless lost alone..

Guilt calls and you reach for the phone

I wish I could be the one to answer

Bring you halfway home

A second chance means more to you than most

A ghost, but I can see you,

So close

And I believe that it hurts, but don’t bow down now

I know youre vulnerable uncontained

And callous on the edges but its not in vain

When you scream out I hear your voice

I couldn’t fathom what its like when the lightning strikes and the blood rushes to your head

I just wish that I could be there with you when it hits you

Stay the whole night hearing you through

I wish the world didn’t feel like bars were all around you

Hidden scars come and carry you away

I know its hard when you feel ashamed like your at fault

But just know that youre not to blame

And when it rains know the clouds will dry

The sun can shine

Let the warmth wash away the pain

The truth hides in the lies of some wicked minds

Forcing thoughts that your lifes a stain

Don’t believe it cuz youre worthy so just don’t stray far

Your heart is strong when it starts to fly

Let your smile show your colors theres no need to hide

Cuz youre perfect just the way you are

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
