Sweet Summer Sunshine

Sweet Summer Sunshine

The lingering sweetness of your warmth has me yearning

Oh how I long for your distant embrace

A few bees still compete for the nectar that only you can deliver

And kids still swing as though you’re not far away

Your presence a comfort as the autumn breeze passes by

I am too fond of these moments

It’s so hard to say goodbye

But alas, sweet summer sunshine,

This truth I must embrace

For even as you shine upon me

Autumn comes quickly

You’ll soon be replaced

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
