Swimming Lessons

We are the chosen few who have chosen to go through with taking life on blow by blow, in order to grow, because its true that this is more than mere survival, this is forcefully stepping out of the denial of
believing that struggle is bad and discomfort is something to avoid
As if the opposite of those two things were actually peace and happiness
But there is no peace in lethargy, and there is no happiness in apathy
If you sit too long you will develop bed sores
We were not designed for this state of inactivity we find ourselves constantly being lured into
Nor were we ever meant to be so impressed with all of our frantic splashing about in the shallow end of existence, often times for fear of drowning, while completely failing to notice the fact that we're ankle deep in solid concrete and the water only comes up just past our knees
But this, right here, right now is our golden opportunity to finally break free
as we chip away at all of the excuses, slowly but surely, 'cuz the water IS rising
and it doesn't look like its about to let up any time soon
But there in lies one of the great misunderstandings.....
....That more water means less standing room
But we were never meant to stand on our own....we were created to cling
we were created to come together and sing, we were designed to hold tight to one another
as we help each other out through this perilous thing....we were MEANT to cling
...Besides, there is no sense of urgency in just standing around….
Tragic is the sound of a life lived in isolation, boldly proclaiming such fierce independence
As if this collective indifference were somehow meant to bring us together....
...Like, all of us have all of these things that we do not care about....together
But i don't need to know what you're dead to, No. I need to know what makes you come ALIVE
Because if we're gonna do more than simply survive, we have to know...and i mean KNOW how to thrive despite our surroundings.....'Cuz circumstantial growth is no kinda growth if all of our hope lies in a specific outcome
No, circumstantial growth is no kinda growth...We can not depend on whats up ahead to make it through, we only have and only need eachother I know that much is true.....really is all a matter of perspective.....
We gotta work our way THROUGH these troubled waters.....not out of them
Because we will never learn to swim or how to keep each other afloat if all we do is keep telling ourselves that right now doesn’t matter and only focus on the hope of dry land....
We gotta squeeze every last ounce of opportunity out of these troubled waters if we're gonna get anywhere past the haunting glimmer of yesterday, last week, or even the next five minutes....
We've gotta accept that these waters are deep and tumultuous, unpredictable at best, but we are right here in it
And the more time we invest in each other, right here right now....the better
"Cuz we are still where we are at....and its only gonna get wetter....
Remember, having a heart of stone does not lend itself to staying afloat or swimming in any way
And at a certain point, we gotta let go of ourselves to swim, so we don't run the risk of letting ourselves get in the way.
