Taming of The Devil

Poem Commentary

While the eternal chess game shall never end between the light and the dark of the universe there will be a final confrontation between God and the Devil, one day there will be a final end resolution. This poem is the second collaboration between myself angel33614 aka The poem buster and newly returned and reborned mustcheman aka The reaper. For those who like riddles and mystery the begining of this poem is but an ending of another.

Taming of The Devil

A day will come,
When all repentance is gone,
When evil will shine brighter than dawn,
When the night shall rule the sky,
Until there's nothing left,
Nothing left but a remorseful goodbye.

Yet upon the winds of sorrow and remorse,
There shall always lie just a hint of reprieve,
Just a glimmer of purity of the holy soul to receive.
For in the heart of hell,
He dwells into the gates of his keep,
The devil of incarnation knows no sleep.

But one day his end shall come to be,
For in the purity of the light shall he learn to see,
Blinded by the darkness no more,
Forever longing for just a hint of release,
A resting place in the shadows no more,
Shall become his inner peace.

Why would the dark one ever want the light?
The only true joy he's known is within the night.
To those afraid of what they'll find,
In the ever expanding void,
Is where the evil host spends most of his time.

You children of light...
You speak of inner peace,
'Finding' the light for eternal release.
Look upon me...
There are none so blind,
As those who cannot see the glory of death,
And all that it has brought to me.

In the recesses of shadows hides his inner desire,
To return home to the purity of the light from once he fell,
Empty and hollows lies his soul,
As it dwells in the very pits of hell.
A blind man walks deep into the abyss of the night,
Seeing the truth of the beast's inner light.

A child of innocence lies waiting for his sacrifice to be held,
For in the embrace of death's keep,
Will he exorcise the darkness,
The inner beast to be eternally expelled.
Longing shall his breath behold,
The evil incarnation of his nightmares no longer to be told.

No pit of Hell
No hollow soul to sell.
No pity or grief,
No sacrifice left in disbelief.

If there were a light so bright,
So as to cast out the night,
Should it shine from within?
Or from the Heavens,
Where darkness truly begins.

It seems the light has the need,
For those who are lost in limbo to believe,
That in pure light is the truth,
When only in Hell’s fire can one find proof.

Even in the very depths of hell,
In the darkest recesses of one's inner shell,
Can one find just a faint glimmer of light,
Purity of heaven's love of the night.

For even the beast of the darkness knows,
The love of God's embrace always shows,
That the real truth can be found within,
For even in the our darkest hour,
When all the world lies broken,
The inner peace of salvation,
Shall be found in the soul of one.

A soul so pure and true,
That not even the darkness knew,
The almighty power that shall come,
Eternal salvation of the demon soul of the night.
A burning face of fire of God's chosen sight,
And in that final moment,
The heart of the darkness became the light
.

This read like a conversation between Satan and God....each on the cusp of some sort of realization that affects them differently....I won't go any deeper in fear of losing the meaning completely....I have to say that the Both of you are so talented that it leaves someone like me....in utter AWE....great job...Cher

This was the intention of the poem, as a back and forth power struggle between God and the Devil, the eternal chess game, played out to a final conclusion and climax. I am humbled and honored by such a kind and gracious comment, what else can I say but thank you! No need to be in awe, as you are good of a poet as any, if not better! Thanks so much for reading and commenting as it is always grealty appreciated and welcomed! Purity of the soul, journey well!!! with grace and humility ANGEL

Here is a virtual cosmological system described in verse. The overriding theme is that what we as human beings as evil, ultimately serves the Divine purpose; that The Light can be found in the Heart; and that reincarnation is the vehicle by which the soul becomes purified. That's why, as the Dark becomes purified, eventually Dark & Light merge, & all this is occurring simultaneously at all levels: 1) Individual, 2) World level & 3) cosmological level. A complex poem with great depth. Good job!

Thank you for the very insightful and sincere comment, it is refreshing to see that not everyone misses the intended menaing. You hit the nail on the head on several different levels, as the poem was intended. Many have picked up on only one or two points where the poem as a whole works its way through several levels in a intropective yet cosmic and universal theme. We both thank you and greatly appreciate your kind comments and thoughts! Purity of the soul, journey well!!! with grace and humility ANGEL

indeed the crafting of this poem is beautiful, but I cannot say I fully understand what the poem is saying. are you trying to imply that the Devil is anything but evil? well I do not wish to stir up any trouble so I will leave it alone, however I would like to know more about what you are implying in the poem, it is very good work, and without examining it I do think it has a nice flow to it, but I am uncertian as to the true meaning behind the poem. very good work, keep it up and please do not be offended, I truely do want to understand you're thouhts behind this paticular piece. email me at marjL.tarlton@yahoo.com, if you will for I would love to hear more about this subject, and discuss it further with you. as for the poem it sel, bravo bravo...

no such implication in the least, the poem is more a foreshadowing of the end to come, as the devil's time comes near, the ending of the poem has allegory to certain biblical elements of revelations with just a little twist. Instead of the devil being destroyed in some final fight I see it more as a revelation of his sin, in the last moment when the final confrontation comes, the day of armegedon and the devil and God come face to face the devil looks into the heart of purity and the heart of the darkness just becomes light, no fight, no battle of wills, as the devil holds no such stregth over the lord, in the end, he will just vanish into the light from once he came as the purity of God's face is more than the darkness can ever bare... There are many more uses of allegory in this poem, on several different levels but don't worry they all have the same final conclusion. This poem begins as back and forth banter of wills betwen the darkness and the light, good and evil, the Devil and God, but in the end there can be only one conclusion and it is already foretold... I hope this clears up some of the confusion. If you have any more specific questions you can Pm me at will and I can break it down further if you like. We both thank you so much for reading and commenting as it is greatly appreciated and always welcome! Purity of the soul, journey well!!! with grace and humility ANGEL

Ok my son, I am commenting a second time as I think some of us in the beginning of the comments here were never responded too. I heard what you said about this the other day. So maybe it is the devil whom became the light? Either way, I know if I write any comment you will think I am being biast but if you know me, then I am going to anyway regardless of the importance of my comments on your poetry. I think your style is deep, at times conflicted, emotions of weeping, brilliance of descriptions and wording that vividly opens the poem to the reader. Here you are able to go back and forth with another great poet. The two of you mirror each other I see this. You keep me in awe of how you do it. I thought a long time ago that I knew I loved to write and might be some sort of a talent. But you, you just put your all and the outcome has got to be to your specifications. Whether it be at work, home, family and your talents. Yet, for some reason I do not know why, you do not feel 100% satisfied that you did or are doing a stellar job. I wish you would be just a bit vain. You do a great job and you feel, did I do enough? Yes, ok I did. A mental dialoge going on in your mind at all times. Yes, you have done what no one thought you could have excelled so high above. Hugz and dont forget, I want my response back. thanks my love.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
