Tell Me

Poem Commentary

This one is a song I'm hoping to actually make music for. I think it would be rather good with the right sound put to it.

Tell Me

Oh baby, tell me where I failed you
Tell me what went wrong
Tell me I'm to blame
Anything at all, I need to hear it

What we had seemed so perfect
And you yourself were nothing less
But when you walked away
Well, I just became a mess

I loved you with all my heart
It still skips a beat, it really does
And the way your arms felt around me
God, how very blessed I was

Oh darling, tell me I let you down
Tell me what went wrong
Tell me I'm to blame
Anything at all, I need to hear it

Tell me what I can do for me
To let you walk away
Because it hurts so bad sometimes
I just have no words to say
You were my angel, my peace
All that was good in the world
Once lay in your hands
But now that all is unfurled
I can barely stand it
Being here all alone
I can barely stand

Tell me that I failed you
Tell me I let you down
Tell me I am wrong
Tell me I'm to blame
Tell me anything at all
I'll bear it with no shame

Because I loved you
And I think I still do
All I've been doing lately
Is missing you

Heart-felt pains of lost love. Why didn't you give her some poems to read...or maybe you shouldn't have if you did.

I actually wasn't as upset as the poem suggests I was; it just inspired a part of me to tap into a greater sort of sadness and produce something beautifully sad from it.

And you have undoubtedly produced "something beautifully sad" in this write. You have a unique talent for doing so repeatedly. Keep it up.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
