The Abyss

The Abyss

pushing closer to the edge
i stare into the dense unrelenting darkness below
devoid of human life
with teeth of black
ready to swallow all that nears

your soul devoured
ripped from your very flesh
screams echo back through the air
like poison it fills your head
unholy thoughts
as you push closer

the pressure builds
the urge to jump
sense of weightlessness
free falling with out a sound

consumed by this evil
fear is growing
panic is rising
coldness is creeping in

dropping fast
a speck in this abyss of black
nothing to see
theres something sinister

but on and on it goes
for eternity it seems
when will it end
only the devil knows

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
