Poem Commentary

I wrote this piece for a close friend...

The Apology

“The Apology”

Sorry was the word you used

It didn’t change the fact that I was used and abused

Torn down from your constant insults

My cries bleed your blood

Misery consumes me night and day

No longer can I stay, no longer can I pray

That one day you will see me for me

My heart, my love, my life

I offered to you, only to have it stepped on like yesterdays trash

Never considered leaving until I wanted to stop breathing

Then I remembered, God has a plan for me…to live and not die

He heard my cry and because of that I can no longer hide

I choose to walk away, knowing who is me, knowing there can no longer be a we...

I leave, I cry, I pray not to turn back around and let you continue to beat me down…

You curse, you plot, you plan…because you can’t understand, that I no longer want to live this life.

My happiness is on the rising of the sun, another day to walk towards my destiny..

I smile at the thought of a new beginning and the promise of a happy ending

I don’t need your apology…because I forgive me!

I LOVE THE SERIOUS CONCENTRATION THAT RUNS THE WORK THRU' FROM THE START TO THE VERY END! YOU'VE REALLY FOCUSED ON YOUR PORTRAYED MESSAGE! A MASTERPIECE!!!

This poem has very nice cadence. And I like your use of similar sounding words within sentences.

Thanks Tina!! I truly appreciate your feedback!!

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
