The Behind the Scenes of Life Part 2 of 5

What is it that we cherish

    In this thing called life?

Is it our kids or our husbands?

Or is it our jobs or our wives?

See we say we cherish life

Yes we'll choose it over riches....

But why do our lives perish,

Usually at the expense of our wishes.

We bust our ass on that job

    To attain a better tomorrow.

    But tomorrow only bring forth...

    A lot more sorrow.

See the stress from the job

    Help cut our lives short.

And the ailments from our bodies

Makes us choose our last resort.

But we say we choose life....

    Because riches bring on strife.

But what sickness do you know

That doesn't come from a long life.

Of making sure we live the finer life

    Instead of just being content....

Because while you're chasing the cars and the riches...

Somebody, somewhere, can barely pay the rent.

I know we need to live

And want to live good at that

But when we really think of where the stress comes form

I can tell you where its at......

Its in the thought of not just having a car,

But the best one in the hood....

Its in the thought of not just having a house,

But the one that makes you look good.

Take the time to value life

And then go after the things within it,

    Because, ladies and gentlemen...............

You can't gain nothing if you're not in it.

To those who toil over getting ahead. Stop putting your health on the line. Ever wonder how some people can have everything, but don't stick around to enjoy it all? Besides, this life is temporary...."Store up your treasures in heaven, where dust, nor moths, nor rust can consume them,,,,,"

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
