    Poem Commentary

I have always loved the cowboy. To me he is the epitome of what a real man is. Tough, rugged, hard working, wise, and a gentleman. May this breed of man never fade away. This poem is a dedication to the cowboy in all of us.

    The Cowboy Way

    Out on the prairie
    Where the tall grass grows
    Lives the loneliest cowboy
    The world has ever known

    He lives from his saddle
    And sweats by his brow
    Mending old fences
    Mile after mile

    He labors all day
    Under a blistering sun
    And stops to rest only
When the work is all done

    His weather beaten face
    And callous hardened hands
Show all the years of struggle
    In an unforgiving land

    No fortune he has
For the life he has layed
But the pride in his work
    Thats the cowboy way

Awesome write my friend, as I have lived in the heart of the homeland and the old midwest, I can tell you first hand there are still quite a few around and will not go quietly into the night, if they do die out one day they will go out pistels blaring forsure! If only more people nowasays lived by the cowboy way the world woud certainly be a very different place. Pride in his work, this used to also be the american way, sad this mentality is a dieing bread, very sad. Loved this write, make me want to break out my cherokee V neck shirt and my black stetson hat, yee haw!!! LOL. Purity of the soul, journey well!!! with grace and humility ANGEL- POB for life aka A blind man walking...

This is beautiful in its profound simplicity of form and depth of the things in life that form the foundational character of the cowboy and his ways. I have a very dear friend who's a cowboy...and this portrayal you've penned is wonderful!

My friend and I really like this poem. She is new to the website and goes under FancyGirl. Her poems are quite nice.
