The Crash

Have you ever hurt some one?
I mean, knowing that because of you another person is in pain?
If you weren't there when you were, they'd be fine?
I do
It's one of the worst feelings one could ever experience
I had never even met this person before
Now they're in danger of losing their life because of what I did to them
I think about it everyday, relive every minute leading up to it
Brakes are no match for ice
I shouldn't have even been out
I remember closing my eyes and everything going silent
It smelled like I was on fire when I awoke
I thought I was dead because all I saw was white
Finally coming to, I somewhat realized what had happened
Disoriented, I made my way over to that person
If you could see what I saw...
I called 911
I didn't care if I was okay, I couldn't feel my body anyways
I'll never forget that day, I can't
The guilt is with me everyday
A girl can't walk because of what I did
I can't sleep at night without being haunted
I deserve every bit of this torment
There's nothing that can be said to free me
Don't try to reason with me
You don't know what it's like until it happens to you
And I would never wish this guilt upon anyone

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
