The Dare

Poem Commentary

So here it is. I'm laying it all out there.. No feelings left unsaid... For Jacob

The Dare

I dared you to take a chance
I dared you to indulge in the love dance.
I dared you to leave her memory in the dust
I dared you to believe me and give me a little trust.
You did.
I dared you to tell me a little more about your life
I dared you to not be ashamed of your fear and strife
I dared you to open up just a little
I dared you to rhyme me a riddle
You did.
I dared you to fall in love
I dared you to make peace like a dove
I dared you to let me see you
I dared you to show me a side of you I never knew
You did.
I dared you to spend money on me
I dared you to believe I'm worth a fifty.
I dared you to send it to me in a letter
I dared you to make it better.
You did.
I dared you to fall in lust
I dared you to stare till I turn to dust
I dared you to get it up
I dared you to fill my cup
You did.
I dared you to tell me what you want
I dared you to like it when I'd taunt
I dared you to give me some
I dared you to regret it none.
You did.
I dared you to be spontaneous
I dared you to give it and be instantaneous
I dared you to go crazy
I dared you to need it more than anything
You will...
I dared you to just hold my hand
I dared you to walk with me in the sand
I dared you to kiss my lips
I dared you to hold my hips
You will...
I dared you to caress me for the first time
I dared you to lock your eyes on mine
I dared you to shock me with your tongue
I dared you to breath on me from your lung.
You will...

This is so repetitive
But it is all so relevant
I dare you to do
One last thing for me and you.

I dare you to let it out
Let out the caged desire
That is waiting to travel about
To approach my body with hands on fire.

You know the one I speak of
It's waiting to feel all that love
The one that craves my flesh
The feel and taste of my virginity so fresh...

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
