    The Day I Lost Aim

    I remember
    the sun on the horizon
    the sparkle in your eyes,
    next to each other, yet distant;
    the ocean breeze relentless.

    My thoughts drifted.
    I couldn't see our future.
    I felt the emptiness without you;
    I wanted to just reach out
    hold you close forever,
    but you were already gone .

    To these old eyes
    it was so long ago,
    yet to the eyes of time
    only a moment has passed.

    That was the last day of us,
    the last time we spoke of love,
    the last time I felt it so strong,
    the last time you were truly within.

    Looking back at myself
    I see self destruction,
    childhood fear,
    and arrogance.

    When I take time to remember you
    I see your smile,
    I hear the echo of your dreams;
    I wanted to give them all to you.

    I remember the feeling
    of your skin against mine,
    a sense of belonging,
    the beat of a heart in love.

    That's how I see you;
    how I feel you still,
    and always will.

    How do you manage to get the form of a woman's body with the wrtting of your words? Do you plan it to come ouit that way? It's great. I s this a true event ? Either way , I like it.

    I would love to take credit for the shape, but it just happened on it's own. This is a very true event, from a long time ago. I posted it on her birthday (we're still friends, kinda lol)

    I am not sure it is possible to see ourselves as others do and to look at ourselves as we do, may not be wise.

    I agree. Somethings are better left to our own interpretation. Thx for reading my work

    Wow! What a touching poem. The realization of what once was beautiful and now is gone is simply vividly expressed. You never cease to amaze this humble fan of yours. Thank you for always being there Artie. You are a terrific friend!

    To remember what was lost, what was loved, how it seemed so perfect... So right... How could it be wrong? Was it wrong? Beautifully expressed, my friend, I loved the read. :D

    Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
