Intriguing little piece, leaving the reader to wonder who died, the dog or the boy. Excellent write.

Dedicated to the faithful and barking one who gave his life for the boy of his loyal life. Short and full of fire and ice!

well, I have only begun to read your poems, finding first the love thoughts sent for Grandmother, I so loved mine... and then I see a poem about the stark fire, evoking awfulness... Noticing your comment to stellar that you have another, more indepth version ... loyalty and bravery and heroic dog would add to the existing sentiments, to me....... a message that is a view of carlessness, I believe we need to have a lot more watch over the children, like mother hens. This is a Good View, Important for our human species to survive, as we must Be There to Guide ... !!!!

agreed ... it was a very sad real-life scene ... but also, agreed, making clear the point about the dog, without whom, the boy would surely have perished ... gave his life for him ... in this case, the dog, the guardian, and the boy, the undefendable ... and yes, the tragedy that can ensue from stupidity! ty so much for your thoughtful read and comment, Springsize! -dh

Wow...what a trait...We have also this story in our neighborhood and it is true,,,the difference is that the dogs really save the life of their master...he doesn't have wife only 14 dogs..it is his family...nice...^_^ v

stellar! you know i found this and posted, and then realized i have a later version that explains a little better ... in this case, also, the dog saves the master ... it is the dog who didn't make it ... meant to be a tribute to such a pure heart ... i really should modify this piece or find my later version :) a little more uplifting, tho the dog gives his life to save another's ... interesting this happened in your neighborhood, too!! thx for the read and the note! -dh

..in and out so fast with such an emotional charge; I hope the bong survived...this one hauled me through each line from the first letter to the final period. Bravo!!

lol! i'm afraid i don't know the fate of the bong ... tho it probably spent at least a brief time in a crime lab somewhere, if it survived the heat ... glad this caught you ... thx for the visit and the note!! :) -dh

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.
