The Drink

The Drink

I feel the thirst within every time I breath,
Like a wolf to the moon I cry for more from beneath.
This fight I must fight everyday I'm alive,
With a family I love that gives me the drive.
They may never understand how or why,
But when they're not looking there's tears in my eye.
A battle raging in my own mind,
Trying to figure how I could be so blind.
Burnt the dreams which I once had,
It all got worse when I lost my Dad.
But now I'm free from all the chains,
I even sing when it rains.
My life is my own to live now,
To the drink I'll never bow.
Everyday it will remind me,
Where I came from and who I use to be.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
