...the end

Welcome to to-morrow, for hereafter called today
Memory your only key, a total loss of yesterdays
Blinded by the future, you’re no longer allowed to see
The past now – only present, as you enter waking dreams

There’s visions laced with cyanide, step upon the monkeys back
Join me aboard this train of reason, as we jump from track to track
There’s a bottle filled with sorrow, feel free to make a toast
We’ll share a glass forever and that which hurts the most

Up ahead you’ll see a white light, as darkness calls your name
A few more pills – now pain-less, aren’t you happy that you came
Songs now sung in silence, ringing deafly on the ear
Would you like a shot of courage, as you crawl inside your fear

Pleasures gate stands open, a keeper – cloaked in black
Offering resolution, if you dare to take a chance
No harm now will befall you, pain swallowed by the wind
To your Gods you beg for mercy, as you bid your life,
The end

Now, this one has a very good cadence and except for the first verse, has good metering to it... Overall, it reads very good and flows well while using several really nice rhyming metaphors... Has a bit of a blues ballad feel to it, i think.... Good write this one....

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
