The Eternal Candle

Poem Commentary

I wrote this poem for a dear friend who lost his twin brother is a fatal car crash one year ago this july. Although his life has come to pass and his journey on this world has ended his memory lives on in lives of those he touched. This poem is a memorial to the purity of light and love that he spread to the world and all those who knew him, as long his memory lives on in the hearts and souls of others, his eternal candle shall never burn out...

The Eternal Candle

As a candle glimmers in the romance of the moon,
Here lies the sweet song of an angel’s tune,
Such a light that has been lost,
Forever shall the world pay the cost.

The glow of the candle shines a brightness to the very heart of one’s soul,
It creates a light of purity so bright,
An intensity so radiant that it blinds the very ignorance of the world with its sight.

The iridescent glow sparkles into an endless prism of colors,
A stream of light that shines to the very depth of the heart,
Colors so vivid with perfection,
That they warm the very essence of one’s soul from the start.

In the very depths of the light,
One must find the eternal darkness of the night,
For the universe calls to keep its balance,
For every light so pure,
Must there be a union of the darkness to be.

The fire of the candle lights the very passion of his heart,
For it is here that lies the true beauty of his life,
For all the world was blessed by his grace,
An angel of light shinned from his very face.

As the candle has faded from time,
So the light has slowly grown dim,
For the reaper came to collect his balance,
Eternal sleep and tranquility awaits the glimmer of reflection,
For the light of his soul has given us direction.

All the world weeps into blinding moon,
As the last sparkle of lights streams across the sands of time,
All of life’s journeys must come to an end,
Yet the remembrance of one’s life is the essence to send.

The candle of purity may have transcended this world,
Yet the light still rains down on us from the very clouds of heaven,
As the angels tears become a storm,
So the angelic wings carry his soul,
The eternal light of heaven lives on as the toll.

For as the memories of his light warms our hearts,
The true essence of his purity will never die,
The eternal light of his salvation shall never sigh.

The eternal candle shall forever shine in the purity of heaven’s gate,
For the memories of his life become one with our fate,
A rhyme of the angel’s might,
Salvation of the darkness of the night,
The purity of his soul will forever burn as the candle’s light.

The eternal candle will forever burn within our memories,
As the light of his soul has become one with our heart,
The eternal candle will never truly depart…

His memory is eternal candle like your poetry. It was very well described. Wish him, the grace of God.

Angel I needed 2 boxes of tissues and the ending sums it up best for me and I relate because of the loss of my child and this line just blows me away As the light of his soul has become one with our heart, The eternal candle will never truly depart…

dear angel... you have assembled, crafted and gifted a very loving tribute to your dear friend's twin... and it seems a bit unnatural for twins to separate so early... and I add that the eternal candle that still glows from the energy of his soul... the light takes longer to reach us, when they become a star, seemingly afar....

I just decided to reread all of your poems, one at a time. This is a beautiful tribute to your friend's brother. I would think this be so true of your character to write this poem for your friend. Almost as if it is your gift to him to say you are his friend and is offering this poem as your compassion and empathy. If only he knew what a true friend you were and I do hope one day he will look at a candle burning again and I am sure he will think of you. Great job! Beautiful in your descriptions of the light burning. I love the ending as I always tend to love your endings. Ha! How biased right? Not! If I did not like your poem for whatever reason then I would fail to comment much. I think it is truly one of your best.

You are too funny! You are my biggest fan and I am my own biggest critic, I alamost through this poem away when i was done writing it, wasn't really sure if it was any good till I saw you read it over and over and how you cried each time, it was only then I realized how emotional the poem could be. This poem was written as a gift to both my friend and the memory of his dear lost brother for as long as the light of his candle never grows dim, he will never truely be lost as long as his light lies on in the hearts and souls of others... Purity of the soul, journey well!!! Angel aka your loving son

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
