The Fallen Hero

The Fallen Hero

The soldier wept for
Friends unknown
His hands had taken
Another stone.
The weakness he felt not
For the country he shared ,
Not of the death but of the
Lives he spared.
The fight was fierce
As the bombing grew.
For the hum was heard
As the eagles flew.
The soldier felt
the love Of not just one,
But
Of the child, the mother,
The farmer, the son.
Each knew of his courage
His wisdom and strength,
as the Angels guided the
soldier through
the darkness brink.
His tears fell on the comrades
Below
For they are none other than
The fallen heroes we know.

This hits home, especially in today's times. Plus, as a veteran I thank you. Very well put together.

thank you and God Bless, your friend from the Tennessee valley

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
