The Flame is lit

Poem Commentary

This poem was written with the disdain in my heart at having been born into such an ignorant society of beings.

The Flame is lit

A vengeful flame has been lit
                    Within my lonely heart true
Religion a mask upon the masses
The Sun rises an orb of fire and flames
Into each nature an angel does climb
His heart filled with a truth oh so pure
Flowers wave their velvet petals to a sun drenched sky
Warmth of creation holds us close

Standing roots planted arms reaching to the sky
The Great Buddha said," Each of us is a God...
Each of us knows all we need only to open our minds
                    And hear our own wisdom."
                    These are wise words however
This world is void of wisdom.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
