    the fool...

if ever a fool there was...

    that fool would be me...

to believe there were no flaws..

and only me you would see...

    a jester, a costumed clown...

    laughing to hide the pain...

a painted smile to hide the frown...

and a sadness that is my bane...

if ever a fool their was...

yes, that fool would be me....

to believe there was a cause...

a chance for us to be....

but it was just a foolish thought...

a dream a fool would dream....

    together fate had brought....

    two to love it seemed....

I was so wrong, so oft I am...

to think that you were mine...

    and together we would be....

    until the end of time......

I raise the glass to the fool we all could be, should be, would be, for not to believe that the end of time will come within one's love is to render the meaning of Love obsolete, I very much liked this, and your other works. Wah'do ~BraveMoon

awww, this is bittersweet but very beautiful. I would say not a fool and Nothing foolish about the emotions and the rhythm in your writing. It is superior.

I can understand the feeling of putting on a mask to hide your pain. showing a happy face all the time when one's soul is really tortured becomes exhausting. I felt your pain and loss in this poem.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
