The Genesis Flood: Part Two
Gen 7:1-24
In year six hundred of Noah’s life
God told him to enter with sons and wife
Know that each son was married as well
With rejoicing companion before the rains fell
Of the clean beasts, by seven, would come inside
Of the unclean by two, and of seven who fly
For in seven days hence, rain would commence
And wicked, prone Godless would know their pretense
There Noah now waited with sons and their wives
Dreading the knowledge of the unsaved lives
Who clawed at the closed door of the ark
As the heavens opened to rain in the dark
Warnings they had for one hundred years
In pleading and earnest, through sweat and tears
In hopes to prevent the worst of fears
Scarring Noah’s memory: laughter and jeers
The fountains of the deep were opened below
And heavens on high released from windows
Torrents of water and flooding foretold
Drowning the fate of the weak and the bold
The windows broken, above, now clear
Was the crystalline dome of atmosphere
That guarded all skin from harmful rays
Degenerating health and length of days
So came the rain forty days and nights
To purge earth from all wickedness’ blight
So wept the last family living on earth
Who knew in grace that God measured worth
With increasing water the ark would soon float
Rise off the earth as the world storm smote
For ending dynasties and powers’ machinations
Was an end and beginning of God’s creation
Residing within this vessel of great volume
Voyaged the first last family o’er earthen gloom
For the deep fountains in ocean floors raged
Met with broken skies, blocked sun forty days
Colossal gathering of water’s grand
Raised vast oceans, consuming dry land
Siphoning breath of all living creatures
Resculpting the earth’s geologic features
(The ark’s proportions are true by design
Naval engineers model after its kind
The volume of cargo, ample by far
Equaled eight hundred thirty eight rail cars)
Bittersweet this retreat, haven from wrath
Did Noah cry, grieving, to change wicked’s path?
Through tempest dark and water’s fury
His visions screamed in eyes blurry
Noah was obedient to follow in quest
And walked with his God, who knew him best
To guide him through such arduous test
By giving him heritage in deliverance to rest
The waters of flood rose over mountains
Fed from the sky and under sea fountains
And the breath of all life was now negated
One hundred fifty days, before waters abated
