THE GREATEST POEM EVER WRITTEN

THE GREATEST POEM EVER WRITTEN

Chico,Harpo,Groucho, X marks the spot,
Brothers,  On your mark.......Action,
Zeppo was left standing at the crossroads,

Thousands of Chaney's standing in a row,
Who was real, who was Hyde,
Lon jr. tried but the shoes were to big,

With all the Grace, Barrymores led the way,
Yet Chaplin was the king, there was no disgrace,
The Empire was made, Mary was Queen,

It began with the Great lord DeMille,
Quiet at first, On the set,  Faint was the sound,
We had music, still be our voices,

The sheik was love, Crossing a desert waste,
A locomotive, General by name, Engineered by Keaton,
While Lloyd hung by the hands of time,
A Keystone for all to follow, Charlie the best of all,

Joe E. could be heard around the world,
While Jimmy blew his nose, Eddie sang,
Laurel had Hardy, Hey,  Abbot had Lou,
I'ma bad boy whose on first,

Dr's. Howard and Fine, Dr. Gillispie needs you,
Seems Kildare needs your advice,
About what kind of cheese,Taste best on the Mars,

Ah Yes, W.C. lead the way by a fifth and  a pint,
Rudolph's nose was not as bright,
While Bergen and Charlie showed that a wooden head,
Had a wooden heart, One kiss from Mae, sawdust was all that was left,  Big boy.

We all went down the Rabbit hole with Alice
Only to find Jimmy's six foot Pooka,
How are you Mr. Smith,
Dowd's the name, Now wheres my hat,

We all wanted Betty's eyes, But wound up with,
Marty Feldmans gaze, Though Lake was no cyclops,
Just the first lady of vogue,
Then Orson scared us to no end, Invading us on a sled,

Boris, Lorre,Lee and Cushing Masters of Poe,
Living in a House of Hammer, Vincent was Priceless,
Bela, sent shivers up your spine, just by looking into his eyes,

Tarzan yelled swinging through the trees,
With Johnny, Jane, Boy and Cheetah,
Charlie Chan and Moto and Wong,
With  make up and magic you made a Star,
Its all and illusion to remember, It's only a movie,

The road lead far and wide, Bing and Bob,
Showed us Hope was the way,
Cary gave us a Grant on life,
From mishap to intrigue he too was king,

We lived on islands, lost in space, Surrounded by giants,
Traveled  to distant galaxies, To the center of the world,
Deep beneath the sea and the end of time,Attacked by birds,
We found Atlantis, A great white whale, We have seen things no one ever dreamed of,  Living them on the screen,

We have lost more than we gained, More than we can name,
Danny,Frank, Dean, Sammy ,Cooper, Bogart, John, Gregory,Bronson, Coburn, Spencer, Hepburn, Gable, Scott,Boone,Murphy, Powell,Mcqueen and Neuman,Brando,
Greenstreet,Hitchcock,Garfield,Young, Coleman,O'Conner.
Just to name a few of legends we have lost,

Sitting high in his saddle Wayne hears a mighty Hi Ho,
Looking down at the happy trails as Sky King flies,
Seeing Lassie and Rinney head for home, Fury too,
Fred and Ginger dance into the sunset,
Howdy and Buffalo Bob  have now signed off.
So long ago, So long ago.............................

A tribute to the stars of Movies, the ones of legend, actors who were and never will be again, the ones we all grew up with in each generation, For this was the making, filming and acting that we loved and still do, The shame being that no one has been able to reach such hieghts since. Pardon the length, as I tried to name as many as I could in such a way you would remember them as they were..... so many more...

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
