Poem Commentary

A petite poem about some powerful wisdom a beloved dear friend shared with me years ago. At dinner one evening he asked me if I loved the person I was dating at the time. I responded, "I don't know". He replied, "The answer is no; when you love someone you just know; there's nothing to think about, its a knowing". I apply this wisdom to many aspects of my life and find it very helpful.

The Heart Knows

The Heart Knows

If you have to think about loving someone

the answer is NO

When you love someone...

you just Know!

Tis the heart that has a mind of its own!

Love is an interesting emotion; I'm sure we all agree on that. I agree with your words but only in certain circumstances. After that very shortlived circumstance love is more often a choice. If you call it caring instead of love it can make more sense. I still care about both of my ex boyfriends; but, I would never take either of them back. Love and trust are two different things. Just because I forgive them doesn't mean that I trust them. Kanicki, I love your writing

paxtruth thank you and thanks for visiting my humble home. I couldn't agree with you more, love is a choice. For me, love can not exist without trust; trust is an essential element. Too, just because I feel romatic love for someone doesn't mean I would be with them, marry them, spend time, etc...I suppose what I was attempting to convey in my petite poem, is that often times people wonder if they love someone, if one has to wonder about it...it's not love...when you love someone you just know...it's a knowing, not I think, not I believe...but the heart knows...and once it knows it doesn't always equate to or make for a healthy relationship; I suppose it's what we do with the love, about the love...love plus being evenly yoked, being with someone who respects and serves ones higher good. I too understand your sentiments about caring, I feel the same. If you care to know, I'm sending you love, peace and light...LOL:) I too love your writing dear.

abuelita1 Ty, the heart knows what it knows and the mind tries and tries to decode but love has an energy flow it doesn't mine the mind but the heart takes hold...and then one must have the courage to follow the heart. LOL peace light and love

devaamido if only you could help me understand how the make following the rule to make it more simple...you're beautiful! LOL

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
