Poem Commentary

Y'know , I really miss the unfiltered, no bullshit, limitless boundaries of the imagination of my youth. Like when a school yard touch football game was every bit as important as the friggin Super-Bowl.
As I walked by, the ball came over the fence.
" Hey mister! Get the ball OK!?"  ... Now, I supposed I could have just picked it up and tossed it over the goddamned fence ... But nooooo .. that would never do ... I had to drop back 5 yards and punt.

The Kids Are Ok

The Kids all say "Hi!"
   everytime I go by
The pretty girls have nothing to say
  The suit-coat and tie,
politely passes me by,
the old ladies just look the other way

But the kids all say:
"Hi! How ya doin'? What's y'name?
Hey, mister! Where ya goin'? ... wanna play?"
Out here on the street, everybody I meet,
they don't have a clue, anyway.
But at the end of the day ...
  The kids are OK

I saw you walking on Main Street,
 Looking down at your feet,
with the cell phone held tight to your ear.
When I smiled, and said "Hi!" ...
You just walked right on by
without waiting for the traffic to clear!

You called me at 10, then you called me again!
Can't it wait 'till you get y'er ass home?
Got to slow yourself down,
put your feet on the ground, look around
and get the fuck off the phone!

But the Kids all say "Hi!"
   everytime I go by
At the end of the day ...
The kids are OK!

its actually quite funny how they learn that throwing things where they can't go but you can, just draws you in. It's alot harder to meet new people that was as a grownup, i throw one thing and people start telling me to calm down... a kid does that and they get the awwww why did you do that for eyes :P

yeah its funny when i used to get off my bus from highschool we got dropped off outside a playgroup day care centre thing, anyways they would all scream hello and me and my sister would go up on the other side of the bars, and we would just talk to them, and we would just pay some attention to them, eventually cos i did girls brigade at nighttimes in the same building, they people who worked there came to know us, and everyday after school, sure as hell is hot, they were there screaming hello and we would always just greet them back and they were just craving some attention i mean who isn't these days hey :) I totally get what you mean and it's really quite sincere take care

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
