    Poem Commentary

I have always fancied myself a knight in shining armor riding to rescue the damsel in distress. I thought that I could write a tale that would fit my personna. Alas, it is my hope nay plea that this tale will not happen to me.

    The Knight's Tale

In the shadows of days long gone by,
dwells a demon for only I.
While we spin a neverending turn,
the demon tells us that we shall burn.

A terror jumps from its place of hiding,
                 scaring children, in their peace.
                 Screaming, shouting, always chiding.
A horrid cacophony will ne'er will cease.

Enter the hero, so brazen and bold.
To rescue the children from their fear
Like a true knight from the days of old
Children all are saved without a tear.

Thrust and parry he swung his lance,
destroying the terror that had no chance.
Laurels and wreaths were his reward,
for being so swift and deft with his sword.

Flowers he gifted his lady fair,
Enchanted he was by her golden hair.
Enamored and thrilled was he for so long,
Together they sat and heard the troubadour's song.

A shadow stood perched upon the wall,
drowned in misery yet echoed the call.
Showered with gold this knight became king,
And all the while the troubadour did sing.

One August day the pair had wed,
Changing his gold into ingots of lead.
The troubadours song had gone from his voice,
Off went his head, he had not much choice.
