    This is what poetry means to me.

    The Language of the Soul

     Poetry, the language
    of the soul;
    The blood, which is
    rendered forth
    from the heart of sorrow.
    It utters words
    thereby
    the deaf might hear,
    with eyes that see.
    It is verse
    given freely 
    as an offering from
    the well
    That renders forth
    thirst’s end
    With pain as devotion.

    In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.
