    The Lighthouse

    I stand alone
    and watch the tide.
    I weather storms
    to be your guide.

    I persevere
    the salty spray,
    and stay awake
    both night and day.

    For you, I blow
    majestic horns,
    thought my bass voice
    sounds so forlorn.

    I stand in watch
    with beacons bright,
    to guide by day,
    and light the night.

    Stay near me now,
    you'll not be lost,
    I'll guide you through
    at any cost.

The word that comes to me when trying to describe this poem is CUTE! I don't know if that brings a smile or a frown to your face but that's my honest response. Of course, it bears the Litilraven mark of being well-written as expected.

Well, cute is okay, lol. It was actually written for a lady who was a Christian, and who happened to love lighthouses...she had a particular picture she wanted a poem written on. So I wrote this for her because of the duality in meaning - she loved it. Thank you for your honesty kaddeesh, I think that's more important than just glossing things over to make someone feel good, ya know?

The whisper of truth in a raging world full of lies echoing to those fallen on their knees in his promise to never die! A great poem!

    Thank you very much :)

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
