    The Line

     Who invented standing in
    A line where we must wait?
    It's absurd to join the herd
    But time is running late

    At the DMV this time
    This place is no vacation
    All this trouble to renew
    My car's registration

    At the post office this time
    My package must be weighed
    All this trouble to buy stamps
    My time has been delayed

    At the supermarket now
    Fifteen items or less
    But the man in front of me
    Has more than I could guess

    Life just seems to be one line
    From point A to point B
    Waiting for the line to end
    Feels like eternity
