The little Old Lady Who Lived Next Door

The little old lady who lived next door
Won't be coming to church anymore.
It was only last night when I learned that she died.
When I heard the news, I broke down and cried.

She was old as the hills and as patient as Job.
A cancer had spread into her lymph node.
I loved that old lady so much cause you see
She was my mother and she had birthed me.

Tonight as I sit at the funeral home
I can not believe that she really is gone
I will miss her so much and I pray for her now.
I know that I'll see her again somehow.

I just have to be extremely good.
When death visits us he wears a black hood
To cover his face so we won't recognize
The smile on his face or the tear in his eyes.

It was not for her soul that he sheds one tear.
It is only because that she had no fear.
