    Poem Commentary

In loving Memory of Sharon, Colt (age 3), and Cody ( age 0 ). Died in landslide, Sept 17 2004 as a result from hurricane Ivan.

    The Lives Ivan Took

There was a mighty storm that raged through a little town, leaving many people crying upon their face was a frown.

The lives Ivan took we were not ready to give, but things happen for a reason we must go on and live.

In just a short time our lives instantly changed, and with the Lords help we'll make it through the pain.

There is more work to be done from heaven to earth, more lives to be saved that is what life is worth.

The lives Ivan took were so precious and small; but more eyes needed opened before the final call.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
