Poem Commentary

written freshman year.

The Long and Short Pain.

dear world,
you stapled my feet into your surface,
made me suffer with the best and worst of humanity
while i prayed through gritted teeth
and tired eyes-
things the boys never noticed
while their hands were up my skirt-
yeah, so maybe my tits look great in low cut shirts,
i'm sure my heart wouldn't feel nearly as nice
cupped in your palm.
No one wants to bloody their hands
on the organs of a girl with no backbone.
