    The Looking Glass

As you gaze at the looking glass,
do you get to think like i do,
that what you see will never last,
because what you see is not you.

All you see is a reflection,
of what you want others to see,
    a clever use of illusion,
of what others want you to be.

But are you happier in that state,
with that masquerade you are in,
living in a world you create,
    while feeling revolted within.

That image has no life of its own,
no spirit, no feelings nor mind,
only the emptiness it has known,
in that world of those who are blind.

The next time you look at a mirror,
    beware of this certain danger,
the person you may be looking for,
has been replaced by a stranger.
