The Man Within Me

Poem Commentary

What you are is what you are, a change is only necessary when you cannot be what you are.

The Man Within Me

I always thought am someone else,
not realizing that someone else can be me,
I have learned what you put in is what you get out,
what you reveal is what will show, no doubt,
what you do difines who you are,
your behavior is your character,
for your character is your nature,
nature in the way you think, and tending your endeavors.

The man within me is all i can see,
A sunshine reflection by day,
a dreary cloud at times,
but optimistic I would be at time,
where it turn out to be a sunshine in a cloudy day,
with a protrait complexion,
neutralizing my emotions,
who am I, which man am I;
self, or the man within me.

Radical i can be,
down to earth logically,
a brighther side may show it face,
while a darker side solemnly begin the race,
the race of two, two of who?
i wondered who is the other side of me,
i wondered because of the things i do,
split personality it cannot be,
split opinion i can see.
what makes the person within me?

when you judge a book by it cover,
partially you may know,
when you read from cover to cover,
a whole lot you will know,
in the same way, as life goes on,
when you look in the mirror self image you can see,
can you see what's in you?
the unkown image is the image within you,
a self construt of what you do
a concious state you may have to define,
with your own personality,
a relation between you and your mind.

Raging with myself to express what i can be,
humble is my emotion as i move on carefully,
what i am to me? i ask myself,
i guess i am the same person within me,
my behavior can tell who i am,
so is the man within me difines
what i am and who i am.
so what i am to me?
i am the man within me.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
