The March Hell (2/5)

The burst of an engine through a light once yellow/

but when turned red a victim laid dead

Guess thats my face under large hot metal/

Scars stay as the body will Fade like Carmello/

Sorrow is felt as he who lies solo will belch

Break through// onlookings as he becomes Welch/ like a grape fruit// an aim stick left on the felt/

Never know that was much more than a softdrink/

Could not afford Robbittusin when I was coughing/

Could not afford burials so we built him a coffin/

Turned on the world and marveled at the others/

Brokenhearted lovers/ suspend our own heartache/

And made things real that were distant and fake/

No one man on my road ever payed taxes/

Yet government sitcoms kept us all laughing/

More money more problems and so they say/

But one problem is more dense when you cant pay/

Was adopted out of an orphanage life was swell/

Now “America is there to catch you” everytime I fell/

But when I was in balance perspective changed/

“Competitive” it’s called when they cheat in games/

Walking on the ledge// balan-cing oer head//

Attempting to make head// toward a slice of bread//

Handing oer slices of pizza to a bum/

Yet, this world wont even give me a crumb/

Factifunctal origins heads stuck on pavement/as fear

Bright light too late Shocked in amazement/ as deer

I grew up from the ground and they called me Herb/

Not Kohler like the toiletbowl but instead with word/

Those days have gone past no shadow of mine/

My mind has cut them like I did a fellow in line/

And lost all remorse// for like salad with sauce//

It defeats the purpose of existence// in an instant//

Like humans with no rain// hunters with no game//

Adopted the mentality transformed into a foreigner/

to self// one trying to corner/ this wealth//

Winning mentality is great for the mind/

But it whips you bad like a kid out of line/

Making you more of a loser//

Cause now its “show me

 second place, and I will

 show you a loser”//

See what I see through eyes painted devil red/

Don’t hold doors Girl just grab a chair/

I told them all kinds of lies on my journeys/

Trying to advance like the rounds in a tourney/

An attorneyist mindset as I was practicing/

Had written statements that I was referencing/

And I assume they wished me an early departure//

But no remorse/ for the lipgloss/

My mind well trained I was just smarter//

More global and unpussillanimous/

Always confident and decisions unanimous/

To take time to temper treacherous temptations/

Resolve risk resonating in retired revelations/

Though I risk all word of mouth// I have been to church several times so let me spell it out//

I gave up on all these cravings/

For once saw a ghost

in a face I loved most

“under this bed are THE steps to Satan”/

Tis tickling why the hunter becomes the hunted/

Cowhers in the empty and hides in the crowded/

Though I speak of self an unsympathetic soul simmers// thawing a cold heart for it all withers//

In a line that stretches to hell/

What my thirst would do for a well/

Harboring defrosting glaciers that would hinder/

the occasion like thanksgiving with no winter/

I wouldn’t care//

just as I began to change/

and to the evils become strange/

I fell on concrete that wouldn’t spare//

To even let me lose all my grey hair//

I know now that I am deceased/ and though I speak/

of the devil I had been/I gave in to a solution and thought I am clean/ but after all that I have seen/

I am amazed that I died a priest//

I guess only God

 can bake bread

for only he know the ingredients of a yeast//

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
