The Miracle of Common Things

The Miracle of Common Things

The miracle of common things is this
Each day without much fanfare they show up
Though their existence we might often miss
They’re as familiar as your coffee cup

The ordinary sparrow in the oak
The red buds of the maple tree in Spring
To some these mundane things may seem a joke
But to the gods they are gifts for a king

Perhaps because they’re always in our view
We may forget to see with grateful eyes
That in these humble things we find the glue
Which holds together all we really prize

The paradox is that in all things meek
We find inside the grandeur that we seek

"The paradox is that in all things meek we find inside the grandeur we seek" WOW... Great summation to a wonderful poem! Thanks for sharing your work.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
