    • Very excited and very grateful. My son Michael will be coming back to American soil in about 12 days I want to thank all of you for your prayers and well wishes and strength.

    The Oak and the Pine

There they stand as they have forever.
The two of them face to face,
    Their arms wrapped tenderly,
    Lovingly,
    Around each other.
Lovers who are dancing dangerously close,
    Delighting only in each other.
    They follow no steps,
    The only tune they hear,
The song of the birds nesting in their limbs.
    They ignore the squirrels' chatter,
Consumed with passion for one another.
A commitment that goes beyond words,
    Enveloped forever in their embrace.

Whelp, it's just a good thing you didn't mention any tree sap! You have a rare precision for observation and intuition - and poetry is an excellent channel for those gifts. The all-important opening line - a modern classic. Another solid '10', give or take one! : ) I think we write similarly - give mine a lookie, a nonchalant twice-over! -SD

I read this poem a couple of days ago. I liked it very much. Tried to comment ,but it wouldn't let me. Couldn't message either. You've painted a wonderful picture in words. TS

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
