The Power in a Man's Voice

Oh, The power of a man's voice to harm or to heal.
It carries across the ball field or the parade ground.
It rings with authority, it resonates with power.
It speaks to the very soul of our loved ones.
    It can galvanize, or immobilise.
It can encourage that spark of independance, that burgeoning confidence in our wives & children; or it can destroy any vestige of self-confidence or initiative.
Not only what we say, but how we say it carries such awesome power and responsibility.
We can crush with a word,
We can stifle with a snort of derision,
We can sow doubt and anquish with a sneer of distain.
Oh, fathers and husbands watch what you say with that deep timbred voice.
Become that source of strength, that force of confidence, & the voice that beckons and sustains your loved ones.

The choice is ours & ours alone.

So true, the power of words, to sling or not to sling. This is deep, and wise. Your poem settles in.. ty WS

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.
