Poem Commentary

We should all look through a childs eye and see what they see. We use to...when we were young. We need to learn to believe. It was more fun when we did!!

The Question

Star light.. star bright....why do we wish on stars at night? Why do we still throw coins in fountains and dream? Do we really believe that there IS a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow? I think it is because we are all dreamers. We still believe that good will triumph over evil and the good guy will get the princess in the end. We want to think that there is love and that everyone feels it in their hearts. Who hasn't stopped and marveled at a beautiful sunrise, or at the end of a hard day prayed at sunset that tomorrow will be a better day? We believe! Pure and simple we believe that someone is out there and that they care about us and what tomorrow will bring. We are dreamers. We still smile at little children and can't help but get caught up in their smiles and their beliefs. They still believe in the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, and Old Saint Nick. Their eyes light up and the fighting stops. The Christmas tree gathers their looks, and the music fills the air. The music..... beautiful! The greatest gift of all is the music. It makes us cry, laugh, feel, and care. But most of all, it makes us believe. Believe that the world will get along.... for at least one night. That there will be peace on earth, and that a child can change the world. Do you think perhaps years ago when a child was born that they too where wishing upon a star?

well its very nice the idea of a poem is metaphor and allegory as well as story, what you`ve done here is explain and elaborate but no metaphors, many possible metaphors turned into explanation, so it makes the poem read like an article about childhood fantasy, expand the metaphors to compare rather than elaborate.......like---the easter bunny, tooth fairy and old st nick, when given the chance prefer magic, mind tricks. if ya see what i mean, gives it that kick and holds a lilt with balanced syllables, it does have big potential metaphorically speaking, just my opinion as to poems, peace

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
