The Rebirth of Life

Poem Commentary

I started this poem the day before the Spring Equinox and finished it on the Spring Equinox. It's the second to last poem I've written so far. I hope that it portrayed the feeling of Spring as truly for you as it did for me.

The Rebirth of Life

The flowers bloom, the birds all sing,
all rejoice in the coming of Spring.
Butterflies flit and flap their wings,
oh, such sweet and silly things.
The scent on the wind is life reborn,
I take off my jacket, old and worn.
And put on a new coat, fresh and clean.
Children play and the grass is green.
The sun shines golden in a bright blue sky,
a little bird learns to fly.
The day passes with so much fun,
now comes the time of the setting sun.
Our spirits rise on wings of light,
we glide serenely through the night.
Finding perfect peace within,
in this beautiful life we live in.

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
