    Poem Commentary

The afterglow of an infatuation, short-lived

    The Remains

Impressions of you as you sleep

    Drift on realms far away

    Over miles and hills, leap

    Warmth, kindness all the day

Rejoicing glimpse and scent of you

    Fragrance carries emotions tide

Welcome gift the breeze sent through

    Fleeting hours spent yesterday

    A heart full-sail, fleeing shore

For one moment, could ask no more

In time I’m standing at your door

    But you have moved away

The heart of laughter remains thereafter

Sealed in soul I savor, enthralled

    Turning again, spirit enraptured

    Beholding grace hastened my fall.

Amazing how certain memories or images or scents, etc. linger in the mind when more important matters fade altogether from our minds. Excellent.

It was so short... and a time to get over it. Thanks for your sharp comments of wit and humor.

A very nice compliment from you, Rhymer! Thank you

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
