the risk (new revised version)

the risk (new revised version)

he said feel fast
because you will fall later
and it will hurt-
harder

he said just stay-
and let go

a bridge will form
and then a bridge will fall-

his arms open up to me
yet they always feel-
as though they fall short of me-
and there is a witness
to this that remains
who holds fast
to our broken aims-

he just arrived
but it feels like he just left
and still-

i always go back to simple
and i always go back to every-
word he said

a laugh-
a sigh
a laugh-
a laugh-

oh, how i loathe this waiting place-
how i knew when i met you-
yet somehow i-
am still searching for peace
and yet somehow now-
i can taste it
so close-
but always soon gone-

soon gone-
soon gone-
only a breath
only a sigh
only-
only
one

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
