The Roaring Sea

Open up the window, let me hear the roaring sea.

In and out the waves roll, like your love inside of me.

Back and forth the boat does rock, but safe within your arms.

Misty night and harbor lights, the essence of your charm.

And to the sense-filled night my soul I do surrender.

Never looking back nor forward, tonight is all we have, and

if I say I love you, I do hope you understand.

The passion inside of me cries out at your command.

I'll not ask for tomorrow, nor anything to be;

but open up the window, let's hear the roaring sea.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
