Poem Commentary

This is a poem about where I work and how it treats those that make its money. I want everyone to know that this company is the worst to work for and doesn't even care if you live or die. Well, I take that back...they probably would care if you died...Because if it happened at work they would only be afraid of a law suit. Enjoy....

The Snake Called West

You don't even know my name
I'm more of a number or initial to you
But I'm in a list of a thousand warm bodies that is making money for you
My talents are wide and vary
They don't mean anything here
As long as the money is rolling my status is "employed"
Never will a thought or care
or Birthday Card from will be sent
Not even medical insurance is offered, or what is rather, couldn't mend a bird
My mind is made up that I am nothing to you and it sadens this big heart of mine
I care so much and have so much love to give
I miss the "good ole' days" when I mattered and had a face
Eventually I will be old news, a rag, talentless in your eyes and let off the leash
Left on the side of the road like an unwanted animal
I have mightmares about you
My hair has fallen out
I have gained and lost weight
I have ongoing migraines and its all for you in the name of business
I am trapped by a paycheck since their is no one else that wants me
I feel like a used tissue after working here
No one else will touch me

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
