Poem Commentary

This is a poem about the relationship of water and music and their similarities...this poem means a lot to me when a time when fear almost overcame my life, and the sound saved me...

The Sound

Once I had heard it

The sound called out to me

The sound of the angels

The sound of the sea

Twisting and Turning

Shimmering waves

The sound of creation

By the sound we are saved

Once I had heard it

Like harps of old

Clandestine Beauty

Bold secrets it told

Rhythm and Chaos

Harmonized

The sound is yet purer

When we capsize

When we give in to the water

Let it fill up our ears

And pump through our hearts

And drown out our fears

The sound is pure beauty

The sound is pure light

The sound is my savior

In this perilous fight

Once I had heard it

The shimmering waves

Now I sit by the sound

And wait to be saved

great poem, love the imagery and rhyme, and the description of sound, it's like I can feel the sound.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
