    the struggle

She lies on her back, pawing the ground for something to hold onto, something to pull her out of her misery. The pain in her eyes cannot be mistaken. Her tortured screams and agonized cries drown out the panting of the beast above her. She grasps the last thin strand of her life with a ferociousness unmatched by anything. She struggles to survive as her life, her pride, her sanity, all that she possesses is destroyed. Writhing in agony, she soon is weakened to the point of unconsciousness. The light dims, the sounds are muffled. With one last burst of strength, she arches her back, trying to dislodge the creature that is ripping her apart. Drained of energy, of everything, she soon gives up, realizing nothing she can do will end her pain. She no longer fights it; she succumbs to the darkness. With one last tear, she fades away.

This poem makes me remember the paperback I read...About the girl that was brutally raped and murdered by her neighbor...You stir all the emotions I have once again...thanks for sharing your piece of art

Wow..that left me wanting to know more! Where was she? How'd she get there? Why,why, why? You left me unfullfilled! Great writing!

This was a nice find! Kind of a hard read for me though. I mean, I understand where you are coming from. It's just hard for me to go there.

see I don't like commenting on poems like these. They are painful to read. Make me relive things I want to forget. So my best thought for the poem would be the thought I have when leaving a movie that made me cry... it's only good if it can make you laugh or make you cry.

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
