    The Token

Though I know you sit and cry,
I can't help but to wonder why?
    Through the pain and despair,
don't you think we're beyond repair?
All we have are memories of us,
so there really is no need to fuss.

We tried so hard to make it work,
but we both just felt like a jerk.
Our love was strong most of the time,
but things always end at the drop of a dime.
I know you think your heart is broken,
but to be honest my love was only a token.
