The Tortured Soul

Poem Commentary

"For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! " ~Ephesians 5:8

The Tortured Soul

Out from the depths of the souls did pour;

the pain and anguish they had so long endured.

Loss of loved ones they held so dear;

years of desperately yearning to have them near.

Hidden secrets that tortured their souls;

 held them a prisoner of their own mind.

Abuse and neglect silently rots their flesh;

 dying a slow agonizing mindset death.

Mourning the life that was wasted;

drowned in the deception of alcohol and drugs.

Day in and Day out beaten down;

exposed to public ridicule.

Lost and alone in their suicidal thoughts;

 desiring a world where torture is not.

Out from the darkness a glimmer of light;

 afraid to reach out they tried to hide.

The light it grew it followed them there;

 penetrating every ounce of their soul.

Nourishing and cleansing deep from within;

 restoring the life that once began.

Overwhelming their souls with love and affection;

 they received it all with joy.

A glimpse of the better things that lay ahead;

 gave them the confidence to once more stand.

the thoughts of the torture of souls and their regaining from their pains is quiet interesting and it has straight out of the soul. I have to admit that it requires indepth thought to understand the sufferings and the motivation. gret work

Thanks giri:) I think many people have gone through or are going through many of these things. While I can't say that I haven't gone through any of them, a lot of my poems are not about me, but of things I see going on in the world. Thanks for the review.

The ideas presented in this poem are wonderful. I think it needs some poetic tweaking though, to pare the verbage a bit. Without becoming your voice, an example. From the depths the souls did pour/ pain and anguish long endured.
