The Unknown

Have you ever been in a place that took your breath away
And it was during the night not during the day
I met a guy at his storage place
Little did I know it would make my heart race!

Upon entering the door I looked all around
And boxes upon boxes were all that were found
The walls held secrets that were lost long ago
As the dried up paint falling from the walls show.

As we walked into the dark to get to the next room
Thoughts ran through my mind of nothing but doom.
As I looked around and glanced to my right
The room was taped off and it gave me a fright!

I looked down at the cement floor
As part of it was caved in and I could see no more
As I thought to myself "what am I doing here?"
I slowly walked as I trembled with fear.

He was walking behind me and little did I know
Would I come out alive or end up below!
As we entered the next room where the light was on,
I looked at his art work and began to calm down.

Plexiglass was formed in many different ways
The likes of which I have never seen to this day.
After he had explained how he made each one
I was thinking to myself should I get out and run!

He turned the lights out and now it was black
Knowing we had to walk the way we came to get back.
I shuttered inside not knowing what to think
As the blackness took over, it made my heart sink!

Was this going to be the end of me soon
As he walked behind me as we went from room to room
Remembering the caved-in floor as I headed toward the light
I wondered if I would even live through the night!

It ended up my fears were in vain
As we entered the light I was a little ashamed.
We ended up going out to a place to eat
I have to say that was a real treat!

As I write this poem, I am once again free
For he and I will no longer be
Experiencing fear in a way you never felt before
Makes you appreciate each day all the more.
