    THE WEDDING OF NEVER

    slowly she danced
through the fog and toward land
    over the cool waters
as if led by a band
    the music would have been
    a slow rhythmic pace
    her movements were swaying
    and so full of grace
    she appeared to be wearing
    a long flowing gown
with a veil over her face
    and her head bowed down
    her feet did not move
    as she floated by
    almost fluidly
like cirrus clouds in the sky
she seemed to be on a mission
    mysteriously drifting
    with outstretched arms
    her head sadly lifting
    she was calling a name
    faintly over and over
    with the sound of desperation
as if searching for her lover
    she was softly sobbing
    her voice began to falter
    it had become apparent
she was jilted at the alter
in the distance a voice whispered
    I am sorry my love
    the ghostly bride disappeared
and in her place appeared a dove

Very haunting and melancholy. I think what's most compelling about it are the things that are left unsaid. Was she a suicide? The reason for her abandonment at the altar? Was it the apology that gave her peace and triggered her final transformation? Always leave 'em wanting more, and you've done that very well - your title is way cool, too.

You know when I read some of these poems I think what good short stories they would make and this is definately one of them. I could see artwork in my head as I read. Beautiful.-Elke

I love this poem. Though she was on a cloud looking forward to love. She was brought back to reality realizing it wasn't the right relationship. But the dove represents hope of a truer love.

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
