    Poem Commentary

    Obviously, I haven't killed myself. I wrote this in 1990 after my mother passed away. I was just having a r-e-a-l-l-y-b-a-a-a-d day, and feeling very sorry for myself. I had to express it somehow. I figure ... if you're gonna put it 'out there' ... ya ghotta put it ALL  out there.

    This darkness is too bright


    Is there too much to forgive?
    Was I really all that bad?
    Was there ever any point to my existence?
    When I'm gone, will you be sad?

    The sins of my past still haunt me
    Nothing left of my soul to save
    This darkness hovers 'round my shoulders
    Will it follow me to my grave?

    Or ... Can I leave it all behind...
    eyes wide open to what's on the other side?
    Or ... is this my hell forever?
    With no place left to hide.

    Good-bye cruel world, good-bye.
    Good-bye old friend, don't cry
    I never wanted fame or fortune
    Or, to see my name in lights.
    As always ... all ways
    This darkness is too bright.
