    Thrown Away

Why did you have me, then throw me away,
I didn't ask to be here, you're the one that wanted to play.

I only cried because I was hungry or even wet,
For my little hands could not do what I wanted them to yet.

I would cry when my belly hurt or my mouth from a tooth,
If you really knew me at all, you'd know I wasn't asking for food.

I would cry for your love or to feel your tender kiss,
Instead I was introduced to the feeling of your fist.

Now I lie here all cold and so very lonely,
Wishing to take back the cries that once laid upon me.

I am crying now for there's no one in sight,
It's damp and dark here with only little light.

Breathing is getting harder as it feels like a weight,
I hope you will acknowledge my death on this date.

I am sorry I was a burden for the mistake you once made,
I never asked to be here, you're the one that wanted to play.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
